Other Sexual Concerns

Sexual Health is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. It is also influenced by the problems of HIV and STIs, reproductive health, sexual orientation, gender identity issues, violence, aging and chronic illnesses such as cancer. This can in turn be influenced by a variety of factors ranging from sexual behavior and attitudes, societal factors, to biological risk and genetic predisposition.

Sexual health requires a positive and respective approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safer sex sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. As the World Health Organisation (WHO) and WAS (World Association of Sexology) recognize, for sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, protected and fulfilled.
